Missions at Hillside

"I am sending you to the Gentiles to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God's people, who are set apart by faith in me." Acts 26:17b-18 (NLT)

Envision Mission Trip 2021

Picture
In May, Hillside will be taking a week-long trip to Minneapolis/St. Paul to partner with Envision Twin Cities in ministering to the people of the inner city. This trip will be an opportunity to connect with people from many different cultures and nationalities, like Somali, Nepali, Hmong, and Bhutanese to name a few.

We will be able to connect with people through many different ministries that Envision already has set in place. These ministries include:
  • Community gardens that reach out to refugee and immigrant families.
  • English and citizenship classes for Bhutanese adults.
  • A sports outreach that helps teach youth and young adults in immigrant communities how to play basketball and soccer.
  • And a park ministry where connections through sports, sidewalk chalk, and bubbles takes place in a Somali neighborhood.

If you are interested in learning more about Envision, please watch the "Who is Envision" video posted. You can also go their website weareenvision.com. If you are interested in serving with us in the Twin Cities, please fill out the Missions Trip Application below, and join us for more information on the trip after the second service, Sunday, January 17, 2021.

Wash Some Feet:
Jesus made it clear that we are here on earth to be servants. He demonstrated that in John 13 when he washed his disciples' feet. Hillside's Missions Committee is partnering with Preemptive Love Coalition (PLC) this March. PLC provides refugees with education and resources to start their own small businesses, and then gives them a platform to sell their wares. Hillside Missions has purchased 100 bars of soap made by refugees in Iraq. We will be offering the soap to the congregation for a donation. The donation received will then be forwarded to the International Church in Kurdistan where our friend, Brad Trosen, has been pastoring.

City Sweep:
**Hillside City Sweep will be April 18th, 2021. More information will be forthcoming! **

Dominican Republic
Targeted Missions 2020

**Dominican Republic missions trip for January 2021 has been tentatively postponed for late Spring 2021**

Our team arrived in the Dominican Republic on January 15, 2020. During our time there, we focused our efforts on repairing and maintaining the facilities for the Foundation for Peace. These fixes included plumbing, electrical, and painting. We replaced mosquito screens in windows throughout the facility. We spent time in the Foundation's newly acquired medical clinic next door. We succeeded in completely overhauling the plumbing system there and installing a new pump. New shelves were built and installed in closets for visiting missionary teams. The kitchen was fitted with new lighting fixtures that were needed in the Foundation's mission house.
Many more repairs were made, but there is more left to do! We are excited to continue our partnership with the Foundation for Peace and show our support for the missionaries that give so much of themselves to show God's love to the Dominican people. Our next trip has been postponed tentatively for late Spring 2021.
If you are interested in joining this missions trip to the Dominican Republic in Spring 2021, please print and fill out the Missions Trip Application below and return to the church office. Hard copies of this application are available at the church office [office@hccvermillion.com]
